Hello from Zanzibar! I’d like to share my story to give you a better sense of this unique resort. My first visit to Zanzibar was 15 years ago, and I immediately fell in love with the island. I always dreamed of returning, although I never imagined it would happen like this. But, as the universe often does, it had its own plans. Last year, my father passed away, marking the end of my last connection to Romania—my daughter studies in Italy and is nearly settled there, and my brother has lived in Holland since 2002. A week after this loss, I had a dream about Zanzibar, so the next day, I booked my trip. I came with the idea of renting and running a beach bar. The universe led me to the perfect spot, Kae Funk Beach Bar, run by the amazing Eddy. Unfortunately, due to some bureaucratic issues with property papers, our agreement couldn’t proceed. I began searching for other rental opportunities and, by chance, discovered a fantastic location. The property seemed to find me, as the owner was very eager for me to see it. It was love at first sight. The place radiates peace, wellbeing, and a positive vibe. Initially, the property only had buildings, so I set out to create a magical garden. I was so invested that I even broke through the cement to plant. The result is a serene garden filled with bananas, avocados, palms, umbrella trees, flowers, and birds. I wanted to blend the classic colonial style of the buildings with traditional elements, so I designed a small beach area atop coral cliffs on the Makunduchi coast. It’s enchanting—a little beach with makuti umbrellas perched above the wild ocean beach. Why this place is special: Remote Location: It’s a rare find in Zanzibar. Oceanfront Views: The ocean view is stunning. Classic Elegance: The colonial-style buildings with columns and high ceilings are both elegant and simple. Proximity to the Ocean: A gate leads directly to the Indian Ocean (an old Zanzibarian door). Wild Beach: The beach is unspoiled and occasionally visited by fishermen, not tourists. Imagine walking on an empty beach under the coral cliffs during a full moon. Close to the Reef: Located near the reef, you can walk to it in 45 minutes and find natural swimming pools teeming with marine life, perfect for snorkeling. Amazing Sunrises: The sunrise is directly in front of the property—truly breathtaking. Unique Birdsong: The thick-knee bird, with its surreal sounds, sings at night. Stargazing: With the lights off, you can see the Milky Way clearly. Beach Bonfires: We host bonfires on the beach. Cozy Villas: Each villa has a small terrace, ocean views from garden-view villas, spacious bathrooms with bathtubs and showers, eco-friendly cleaning products, and comfortable mattresses. Guests love the restful sleep they get here. Natural Ambiance: We don’t play music; instead, you can enjoy the sounds of the reef, waves, birds, and palm leaves. Swahili Cuisine: We embrace Swahili cuisine—simple, healthy, and delicious. Breakfast features fruits, juices, eggs, salads, and cereals, and our menu highlights fresh fish, vegetables, and fruits. We don’t serve meat at breakfast. Flexible Breakfast: Enjoy breakfast at your own pace—take your time and relax. Tailored Trips: Based on three months of island research, we offer unique trips combining classic and new experiences, maximizing what you can see in a single day. Unique Packages: Our packages offer a comprehensive Zanzibar experience. I’ve carefully selected each idea and supplier, and the universe has brought together some truly special people. This is a place for true relaxation and self-discovery. However, it’s also conveniently located just 19 km from Paje, the most vibrant city on the East South Coast, a big spot into the world-class kiteboarding. This place is designed for people who are ready to face the power of nature and heal their souls.
